Reviving the 1875-built heritage Prince Edward County Farmhouse proved to be a designer's dream fulfilled. Our commitment was unwavering in preserving the architectural gems—bricks, beams, and original artifacts—infused with a rich history.
Within the Victorian brick-home section, we selectively demolished parts of the interior, unveiling captivating open spaces. Large windows were strategically added to embrace panoramic views of the picturesque countryside from every nook of the home.
Meticulous restoration work was undertaken on the staircase and the aged pine-wood flooring, both echoing the craftsmanship of 1875. The adjacent barn, transformed into a chef's kitchen and living room, underwent extensive reconstruction. The removal of the entire second floor allowed for soaring volumes, with insulation applied externally to safeguard the integrity of antique bricks and wooden beams. Notably, some of these antique beams found new life as benches, stools, and the kitchen island countertop.
Our approach involved a harmonious blend of preservation and innovation. Old materials were preserved, meticulously repaired, and artfully combined with new elements. Rusticity met modernism, creating a captivating juxtaposition. We seamlessly married the old and the new, the minimal and the ornate, and the serene white with vibrant splashes of color.
In our vision, the world becomes a better place when we embrace the beauty of blending elements—uniting tradition with innovation to create a space that is both timeless and contemporary.
